Facial Infection

Infection in jaw and face are two types: those related to dental problems and the others are non-dental related. For example an abscess most likely has a dental origin, where a sinusitis may be of non dental origin. Facial infection can spread fast and create serious health problems. A simple tooth abscess can become a life threatening infection by obstructing the breathing. They could also cause brain abscess or travel down into the chest and create major infectious process in the body. Other non dental infections such as sinusitis or salivary gland infections maybe less aggressive in terms of spreading fast and causing life threatening situation, nevertheless, should be treated in a timely manner.

We recommend that you visit your doctor if you feel there is possibility of any infection in your jaw, teeth, or face before it becomes serious. Dr. Hajarian will be able to asses you for any possible facial infection and can take the necessary steps to help you manage the problem in time.
